Twitter Trouble

In response to this post:

1. Do you think that Khadijah's comments about her teacher, that he "lives at home with his mom, eats fish sticks for dinner, and all he talks about is Star Wars" were appropriate? Explain.

I think that Khadjiah's comments about her teacher were inappropriate. Whether or not she used foul language, the purpose of her comment was to offend her teacher which I consider to be inappropriate. She should have respected that he was her teacher and treat him with respect.

2. What is your opinion on the suspension of these students? Was it reasonable for the school board to enforce such a punishment? Why or why not?

I think that the students deserved the suspension. A lot of youth don't realize that the teachers are just doing their jobs and that they deserve respect. By disrespecting the teacher, the students are taking advantage of their learning opportunity. It sounds like I'm just kissing up to the teachers but in reality, if I was a teacher I wouldn't want students to treat me like that either. Also, I think that it was reasonable for the school board to enforce such a punishment. Like I mentioned earlier, a lot of youth don't realize how it is sometimes not the teachers' fault. Youth often only think of themselves and how they should be treated instead of how others should be treated.

3. How do you feel about the reaction of the students - that they should be able to share their opinions freely? Is it okay to post this sort of thing on social media websites like Twitter?

I feel like the reaction from the students are predictable. They should have known that they're actions would result in a punishment like suspension. As much as I agree with freedom of speech; unless you truly don't know the results of your actions, sometimes you should keep opinions to yourself. I believe that it isn't ok to post this sort of thing on social media websites. Oftentimes people do not directly mention who their post is about which in that case, I think it's ok. People often do this to let out their anger and not get in trouble.

Paparazzi: Scandalous?

News about celebrities have always been spread around regardless of how scandalous it is. We have news such as the break up between Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber, and then we have news about Kim Kardashian and Kanye West having a stroll in London. Personally, I don't give two rats about the lives about celebrities.

1) Do you agree or disagree with the way celebrities are treated by the paparazzi?

I can't say I agree or disagree with the way celebrities are treated by the paparazzi. I feel that each party should put effort into making sure that the attention that they get in the news is positive attention. Celebrities have to know that with their fame, they must consider that their actions are going to be published whether or not they like it.

2) How far is too far?

It all depends on how much attention the celebrity wants. Everyone has a breaking point where enough is enough. For some celebrities, they have more paparazzi tolerance than other celebrities. They are constantly being harassed by the paparazzi and they often have articles about them that are false. Their privacy is often intruded and depending on their paparazzi toleration levels, they can break down and actually give the paparazzi a story to sell.

There's a documentary titled 'Sellebrity' which documents the story of celebrities and their stories about their encounters & opinions with the paparazzi.

3) Why would the paparazzi use media networks to their advantage to post personal news about famous individuals? Is this right?

The paparazzi would use media networks to their advantage to post personal news about famous individual because the media network is used by almost everyone. By using media networks to spread information, this information can be spread quicker than if it were printed on magazines. An example of a media network that posts personal news about famous individuals is www.perezhilton.com. This method of posting news is more effective than newsprint.

The question of is this right depends on morality. Is it morally correct to post information about others in the media? The obvious answer would be no, because we are invading on the celebrities privacy.

iPhone Crazy... Or Not?

I'd like to just use this time to say that I am not really much of an Apple fan, but I do like some of their products as well as own some! So some opinions here may or may not agree with yours. If you do however feel differently, please comment here stating your opinion (because that's part of the assignment haha ok).

1) Are you the type that of person that wants/needs the top of the line electronics? Why or why not?

I am not the type that wants/needs the top of the line electronics. I feel that the ones that I have are good enough and most of the time, the newer products isn't much of a big leap in features as the previous ones. I find that if there ever is a new release of a electronic product, I wouldn't make such a big deal about it's release and I would just purchase it whenever I need it as opposed to purchasing it immediately.

2) How do you feel about Apple's bank of materials that will be released over time?

With Apple's bank of material, I have mixed feelings. I feel that the iPhone 5 is a good improvement from the iPhone 4s + 4. Same thing goes for the iPod touch 5th generation. As for the iPad mini, I can't say the same. The features of the iPad mini is the same for the previous versions of the iPad (granted, smaller but still!). Maybe a smaller size would be convenient for others, but I just find it unnecessary.

3) How do you think the iPhone might change in the years to come? What other applications/functions would you like to see incorporated into new versions?

I believe that the iPhone will (obviously) improve with years to come. They will also include features that we would find abnormal in this century. By this I mean that while we think that a camera function on our phone is a normal feature, years ago it was a wild, impossible idea that we've never considered. Applications or functions that I would like to see incorporated into new versions of the iPhone are not much. The current iPhone features are pretty innovative. We even already have an app that can allow us to buy coffee or plane tickets! I know that Apple is pretty ahead of the game when it comes to product features, so I haven't really put much thought into what I would like to see in the next iPhone.
